Project details
The new remodel of the SMU Hughes-Trigg Student Center is a beautiful success of space utilization to include meeting areas, study spaces, a student store, and the SMU’s post office. Andreola Terrazzo & Restoration performed the terrazzo flooring and staircases project for Hill-Wilkinson General Contractors. The Architectural firm, Parkhill, Smith, and Cooper, Inc., chose the material of terrazzo for a modern influence in the reutilization of the building.
The design consists of the SMU colors of red, white, and blue throughout the designs in the terrazzo flooring comprising 12,000 square feet. The school mascot mustang image was replicated and installed utilizing colored terrazzo in emblems at the entrances to the building.
Andreola Restoration & Terrazzo was also contracted to construct and install 1,200 linear feet of base and two monumental precast staircases prominently placed in the center of the building lobby space. This work was performed in Andreola Terrazzo’s precast facility in Dallas, Texas. The installation of the staircases was performed by Andreola’s trained artisans and exemplifies their attention to detail.
We are proud of this project and look forward to performing more high quality work at SMU and for our partners Hill&Wilkinson General Contractors as well as Parkhill, Smith, Cooper, Inc. Architects.
